Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for the Effective Treatment of Depression

Depression is the leading mental health disorders in the UK at present affecting around 3 million people.  It is estimated that 1 in 10 people will at some point in their lives experience either mild to extreme forms of depression with approximately 50% of those people experience relapse. It is thought that women are twice as likely to experience depression than men and sadly 4% of children under the age of 16 are either anxious or depressed or both.

The most common symptoms of depression are (but not limited to)

  • Tiredness and loss of energy

  • Sadness that doesn’t go away

  • Loss of self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Not being able to enjoy things that are usually pleasurable of interesting

There are many forms of depression (post-natal, bi-polar disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder etc) however the route cause can be complex and often unknown although it is thought that biological factors (such as genetics and illness) and psychological factors (bereavement, unemployment, having a baby or life changing events) can all play a role.


At Spirit of Calm, we don’t focus on the past - we are not in the practice of reliving traumatic events or talking you through past issues that you feel may have contributed to your depression.  During your initial consultation we will discuss with you how your brain works and why we suffer with anxiety and depression – this alone is valuable in understanding how the chemistry in our bodies and minds contribute to our overall physical and mental wellbeing.  We will also work with you to establish what you want to achieve from life and we will provide you with the tools to help take those important steps towards a new and more positive you!  You will also experience relaxing trance which will not only help you to relax, but it will allow us to give you suggestions that will help you regain the real you, the confident and happy you!

The number of sessions depend entirely on individual circumstances.  It can be as little as 4 or as many as 8, 10, 12 or even more.  Our methods have been proven to be relatively quick in comparison to other forms of talking therapies.

Cost per session: £60
